The ABN AMRO Headquarters Extension in Amsterdam is a major timber construction project showcasing Swiss wood technology from HÄRING in one of Europe’s largest urban developments. HÄRING is collaborating with the general contractor Royal BAM Group to expand and add extra storeys to the headquarters of ABN AMRO Bank, the largest financial services group in the Netherlands.
The design incorporates approximately 30,000 m² (about four football fields) of sophisticated wooden structural elements, making extensive use of glulam and other engineered timber to create light-filled entrance halls and modern workspaces in the heart of Amsterdam. This sustainable timber solution aligns with ABN AMRO’s long-standing commitment to ecological building strategies and emission-free construction.
Set to be completed by end of 2025, the project demonstrates how advanced timber engineering can be integrated into large-scale commercial architecture in a major metropolitan context, reinforcing HÄRING’s role in pushing innovative and environmentally responsible wood construction in international markets.
